Kevin Willis files to run for Washington County Sheriff

BLAIR, Neb. — Kevin Willis, a dedicated law enforcement professional known for his strong leadership and commitment to public safety, officially filed for candidacy for Washington County Sheriff on Monday, Jan. 5. Willis announced he was running in May.
Willis has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, including 26 with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, most recently serving as chief deputy. Willis began his law enforcement career with the United States Air Force and later served as a reserve officer for the Blair Police Department and the sheriff’s office. Throughout his career, Willis has earned a reputation for integrity, fairness, accountability, and professionalism.
“My vision for the sheriff’s office is enhancing community relations and community partnerships, improving upon the operational efficiency of the office, and fostering a positive and supportive environment,” Willis said.
Willis’ plan also includes continued improvements in professional standards and enhancing staff training at all levels. He recognizes that leadership is not just about the title; it is about motivating people and everyone working together for the greater good.
“As a law enforcement agency, we are representatives and extensions of the community,” Willis said. “Continuing to build better community relationships and encouraging community engagement will be a top priority.”
